Neptune Regatta

May 19, 2024

Neptune Regatta was held the day after the Trinity Regatta, on the same narrow river; however, the clubhouse is on the opposite side of the river. Weatherwise, there were perfect rowing conditions for this well-run and well-attended event, with everyone enjoying the fine weather.
Despite their practice runs on the river, the previous day, the Jes had a number of disappointing results, with some near misses. However this trend was broken by the MJ15 pair, who dominated their heat and final. The Mens J14 Quad was uncontested in their heat, leading to a row-over.
With medals for 1st and 2nd, CIRCs J15 women crews just missed out by coming in 3rd and 4th in 2 separate categories: the J15 coxed quads and doubles. Both Jes quads were ahead of Neptune's two crews but ranked, on the day, behind Galway (2nd) and Commercial (1st). Similarly, doubles medals went to Sligo (1st) and Neptune (2nd) but both CIRC crews did well to finish ahead of everyone else - 2 crews from Commercial, 3 from Galway, and 1 from Neptune.
The CIRC junior 14 doubles were 6th and 7th, coming in ahead of Neptune and two Galway crews but behind 3 Athlone crews, one from Garlow, and another Galway crew.
Our MJ16 coxed quad was 4th of 6, and our MJ16 single scullers took 4th, 5th, 6th places, ahead of 2 other entrants.
And the CIRC MJ15 coxed quad ranked 5th of 6 entries.
